# What are equipment types?

## Understand how equipment types are used to standardize operations across the entire organization.

Equipment types represent the official classification of equipment used within the organization.

They are shared across all companies in the organization and provide a standardized reference for registrations, tracking, inspections, maintenance, violations, reports, and other platform features.

Examples of equipment types include:

- Truck
- Pickup Truck
- Ambulance
- Forklift
- Stair Truck
- Pushback Vehicle
- Tractor
- Dolly
- GPU

All users see the same equipment types regardless of the company they belong to.

### **How to create a new type**

To create a new equipment type:

1. Navigate to **Equipment \> Types**.
2. Click **New Type**.
3. Define: 
     - Type name
     - Description (optional)
     - Representative icon
4. Click **Create and Save**.

The new type will become available throughout the organization.

### **Custom icons and AI**

When creating a type, you can define a representative icon.

After creation, the platform allows AI-powered icon generation to automatically create icons that visually represent the equipment.
